New York Yacht Club Model Room

Welcome to the Minuteman Model Yacht Club Trophy Room.

The club’s members choose to acknowledge and honor all those who have participated successfully in many RC sailing events over its long history.

Please explore each of the connected pages to learn more about the boats we sail, the club’s leaders, National Champions, and our AMYA Hall of Fame members.

Ice Breaker

The Ice Breaker is traditionally the first racing event each year for Minuteman Model Yacht Club. It is an open event to all, but it awards its perpetual trophy to the winner of a designated class of boat.

The Enduro is our traditional end of the season regatta. At the end of the day, the skipper on the water with the largest number of laps wins. All classes of boats are welcomed.

The Commodores

The Commodore of a model yacht club is the CEO of the club. He or she is “the face” of the club in all its activities and its many relationships.

National Champions &
AMYA Hall of Fame

Sue Linville Memorial

The Susan Linville Memorial Regatta has become a popular part of Minuteman tradition.

Old Timers Regatta

The Old Timers Regatta is very popular with our older Club members. It’s great fun and a great tribute to a man who was never too old to play with toy boats.

Star 45

The Star 45 is a 45″ long hard chine hull; semi-scale model of the full-size Olympic Star.

US 1 Meter

The U.S. One Meter Class is a developmental class, which means there are very few design restrictions.

Soling Class

The Soling Class is the largest class affiliated with the American Model Yachting Association (AMYA).

The DragonFlite 95 is a Restricted One Design boat that is meant to compete within a strict set of rules to ensure a true test of a skipper’s ability to tune their boat and race it well.
