Ice Breaker
The Ice Breaker is traditionally the first racing event each year for Minuteman Model Yacht Club. It is an open event to all, but it awards its perpetual trophy (seen to the left) to the winner of a designated class of boat. The Soling 1 Meter has been the most often chosen class.
Weather can be a major factor with this event. In 1980 the event was abandoned due to extreme cold weather. It has been rescheduled when sailing was not possible. Recently, in 2020, the event was held in July due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
