Unscheduled 11/1/25

The day was predicted to be windy with gusts, and we were supposed to sail Stars, US1M’s or DF95’s.  Realistically, not everybody has “B or C” rigs, so I prompted skippers to maybe also bring a more wind friendly boat and decide what to sail when they got to the pond.

Eleven skippers showed up with Stars (with and without “B” rigs), a VM (no “B” rig), an IOM (with “A and B” rigs), a US1M (with “A and B” rig), some DF95’s (all “A” rigs), and an RG65 (I think the whole boat is a “B” rig).

The actual winds went from way too little to way too much depending on where you were on the course, what boat you were sailing, and what time of day it was.  The race was often kind of a David vs Goliath situation due to the wind variability and vastly different sizes of boats being raced.  The winds sometimes favored the larger boats, and the winds sometimes favored the smaller hulls.  I must admit to occasionally rooting for the DF95 that was ahead of a larger boat when both were heading to the finish line.  The scores only tell the story if you compare similar boats.

It was a fun day, and everybody is now looking forward to the 4-hour Enduro that will take place next Sunday.

See you there!
